About Thorpe Cottage

Thorpe cottage is a 300-year-old Grade II listed cottage that lies in the heart of the popular Peak District Village of Ashford in the Water, on the River Wye – only two miles from the market town of Bakewell.

As you enter through the small walled front garden, you walk into the lounge with beamed ceiling, part oak panel, original gritstone fireplace with Coalbrookdale cast iron stove (gas) and window seat which all add considerable charm and character to the cottage. Off the lounge is a small room, useful for storage. The kitchen dining area to the rear is fitted with all the essential equipment you will require. From the lounge the winding stairs lead to the first floor and the bathroom comprising of bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet. Off a small landing is the spacious and well fitted bedroom with double bed, along with the original bedroom fireplace. At the rear of the cottage is a yard with outbuildings.

From A6 turn onto A6020 take the B6465 to Ashford Village. At the Ashford Arms, turn right into Greaves Lane. Continue for 50 yards past Hall End Lane on your right, and Thorpe Cottage is the second cottage on the right – opposite Mews Cottage. Cars can be parked near the cottage, on Greaves Lane.
 
By Bus
Ashford can be reached by the TP Transpeak bus via Matlock, Bakewell or Buxton, or by a number of smaller services such as the 257 which runs from Sheffield. Services change frequently so please check for the most up to date information: More information.
