On entering the cottage there is a step down into a small lobby with a sharp turn into the living area. This is a low beamed room with an original fireplace along with a gas fired coalbrookdale cast iron stove and central heating. There is a 3 seater ercol settee and 2 ercol easy chairs, as well as a window seat and low occasional table. Electronics include a TV, DVD player and tape recorder. Information can also be found about the area, walks and other local places of interests.
A step takes you up into the kitchen/dining area which contains: a cooker, a washer/dryer, a fridge, a dishwasher. There is also a pine table with chairs and a Welsh dresser which displays all crockery. Pans can be found underneath the sink, and cutlery is in the drawer of the Welsh Dresser. There are seperate hot and cold taps, with thermostatically controlled hot water. The work surface is Formica with a stainless steel sink. There is a door out into the back yard, where washing can be dried. Cycles can be brought into the cottage via the back yard, and stored in a room off of the living area which can also be used to dry wet clothing.
The bedroom is reached by a winding staircase - there are about 12 wedge shaped steps, and great care is advised when ascending or descending the stair, although there is a banister rail. There is: a double bed, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a cheval mirror, an easy ercol chair, a wooden chair, a table with a TV with a remote control, some bedside cupboards, a clock radio and lights either side of the bed. Clean bedside mats are provided for every new visitor and extra blankets are available if needed. Please note that the bedroom is not suitable for wheel chair users - access is not possible.
Also upstairs is the bathroom which contains a bath and shower as well as a bath, toilet and washbasin. There is a 3-way mirror over the sink which can be angled or placed flat against the wall. Great care should be taken when the mirrors are angled. There is also: a towel rail, hooks for hanging clothes, a shelf for toiletries and a wicker shelf unit. There is a vinyl floor, giving the advantage of extra cleanliness, however clean bathmats are also provided for every new visitor as well as towels. Great care should be taken when using the bathroom, especially during the night, as the stairs are immediately in front of the bedroom door. It is advisable to keep the landing light on at all times.
